ATOPOS Contemporary Visual Culture introduces its new theme of research on the human body and the contemporary sexual practices with the exhibition of Peepee by Lakis and Aris Ionas / The Callas, curated by Vassilis Zidianakis.

With the exhibition Peepee by The Callas, ATOPOS CVC is participating in ReMap 3 international platform for contemporary art.

During September and October 2011, and working on the particular architectural elements of ATOPOS' building at 72 Salaminos street, The Callas present their second solo show titled Peepee. The exhibition includes a series of video projections, installations and performances specially conceived for ATOPOS CVC, and framed by the live music of The Callas.

Parallel to the exhibition, ATOPOS CVC presents Atopic Bodies [NINE]: The Dancendettes. Atopic Bodies is an ongoing project exploring the eccentric and the unregistered ways the human body re-invents itself today. In Atopic Bodies [NINE]: The Dancendettes, ATOPOS CVC collaborates with The Callas and the Callasettes, the band's female dance group, and presents a series of performances realised on the artists' new installation-stage.

ATOPOS’ new research theme is focusing on lust and how men and women perceive it today. How do they experience it and how do they offer it, one to another and everyone to everybody? Can it be that in our time, when all sexual taboos, and even the most extreme fetishes, seem to have been overcome, that in the end love for one another has become one of the principal taboos? In the end, are there any limits in desire, but also to the way we alter our body so as to achieve the climax?

Erotic mysticism will engulf ATOPOS' building. A Rock 'n' Roll pagan collage, dance until the end, voyeuristic confessions, prayers and devoutness in front of the endless nothing. The Callas create an ecstatic world dominated by sensuality and secret thoughts.

In relation to the exhibition Peepee a limited edition of the publication series SLAVES TO ATOPOS will be released with original texts by Nadja Argyropoulou, Christopher Marinos and Xenia Kalpaktsoglou. Each publication will be accompanied by a 7'' single containing the two new songs that will be the concert's soundtrack. All the above will be presented in a unique, embroided-case created by the artists.

The Callas are formed by the artists Lakis and Aris Ionas. Through the past years they have playfully mixed different disciplines including music, fashion and performance. Through a DIY aesthetic they fuse traditional Greek elements such as architecture, costumes, myths and embroidery, with elements from the Punk Rock 'n' Roll culture. The Callasettes are formed by: Annita Polichroni, Marilena Petridou, Maria Nikoloulea and Agni Papadelli
Rosetou.
